The Eternal Word Will Never Change

In today’s Gospel, Saint Luke reports the Words of Jesus saying, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Everything will pass away, but the Word of God, the Bible will not pass away. Therefore, we are all invited to observe and to live the Word of God. The question is: How would we observe and live the Word of God?

There was a difficult and complicated issue that a man didn’t know what to do, so he came to seek wisdom and guidance from the Word of God, the Bible. He closed his eyes and opened the Bible, he placed his finger on a page. Opened his eyes, he read the words from his finger, Judas “Flinging the money into the temple, he departed and went off and hanged himself” (Mt 27:5). The man thought to himself that this piece of the Bible was not fitted for his situation, so he tried second time. He closed his eyes and placed his finger on another page. His finger was on these words, “Go and do likewise” (Lk 10:37). Once again, he wouldn’t believe that God wanted to use these words to advise him, so he tried the third time, and it said, “So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly”” (Jn 13:27). If we observe the Word of God this way, we might lose our life. The Word of God is not to pick what we like and put them together, or what we don’t like then put them together, but the Word of God must be put into the whole contact, the whole paragraph, the whole chapter, in order to understand the message of the whole. It cannot be observe by separating from the whole contact. If we fail to observe the Word of God, how would we truthfully live the Word of God?

How would you and I read the Word of God? Have you and I just like to read a particular book and dislike other books? Rather, we need to ask ourselves: Why do I like this book than other books of the Bible? Who is God in the Old Testament, and who is God in the New Testament? Is God in the Old Testament the same as God in the New Testament? If there is God, then who are we? If God is the loving God, then who are we? The Word of God is Eternal, will never pass away, how would you and I observe and live the Word of God? What if all the Bibles got burned, how would we observe and live the Word of God? We can observe and live on one word LOVE. The decision is yours.
